Tanor

Tanor was born in Shigatse in 1981 and graduated from the Art School of the Tibet Autonomous Region in 1998. In 2003 his work was shown in Beijing and in 2004 he was invited to exhibit at the 13th Great Beaux-Arts Exhibition. In September 2004 he organised the art group Shunu Dameh and in March 2005 staged their first exhibition in Lhasa. The work he is exhibiting is a reflection on changing Buddhist knowledge and beliefs in Tibet, as the world also undergoes profound suffering. The male figure in the centre of the mandala/wheel of life recalls the physical position of prisoners tortured in Abu Ghraib.
