Jhamsang
Jhamsang was born in
Lhasa in 1971; he is an art teacher and member of the Gedun Choephel
Artists’ Guild. He studied various subjects such as biology,
Chinese, computing and art. In 1987 he became an apprentice of
the thangka master Tenpa Rapten.
His expression of current
Tibet is formed through assimilating and juxtaposing traditional
techniques with new images as a way of questioning the issues
of past and present, tradition and innovation, history and change.
