This World is Flat, is the first solo exhibition
by young Tibetan-American artist Palden Weinreb. Heavily influenced
by Buddhist practices, Weinreb often recites a mantra while acting
on what he describes as a "shamanistic compulsion to create
meticulous hand drawn lines" that are remarkably precise yet
created without guidelines. Inspired by sublimity and the interplay
of visual space, Weinreb's works tread a delicate line between the
unconscious rhythm of abstract expressionism and the careful
sensibilities of early minimalists.
